Phelps Set to Race Super DIRTcar Series Doubleheader

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 14, 2010) - Heinke-Baldwin Racing (HBR) driver Jimmy Phelps will participate in a doubleheader of Super DIRTcar Series races this week. Phelps will race in the Traffic Jam 100 at Grandview Speedway on June 15 before heading to Orange County Fair Speedway for The Big Show 2 on June 16.

The Baldwinsville, N.Y., native finished second in his last race behind the wheel of the HBR No. 98H at Cayuga County Speedway on May 30. Phelps currently sits in fourth position in the Super DIRTcar Series point standings, only 73 points out of first.

"We're coming off a decent run at Cayuga County, and the ball is starting to roll in the right direction," Phelps said. "We are looking forward to racing some of the top Pennsylvania guys that we normally don't see at Grandview and then going back to Orange County the next night."

Grandview Speedway is an action-packed, high-banked, 1/3-mile clay oval located in Bechtelsville, Pa. Phelps has raced at Grandview twice in the Super DIRTcar Series, with a top finish of sixth.

Orange County Fair Speedway, located in Middletown, N.Y., is a 5/8-mile dirt racetrack. Phelps has recently seen a lot of success there, logging three top-10s in the last four years. His best Super DIRTcar finish at the track was in 2008, when he finished third.

Heading into the doubleheader, Phelps is excited to take on the competitive field.

"We get to see a whole different group of guys that we don't get to race that often, so it is kind of neat," he said.

The gates at Grandview Speedway will open at 5 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, with racing action slated to start at 7:30. Wednesday's race at Orange County Fair Speedway will begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

They will also be fielding the No. 98 for driver Erick Rudolph in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, with additional sponsorship from Pizza Logs, Brigham Concrete and PrimeTyme Motorsports.
