Motor Mile Debut Foreshadows Great Future for Matt McCall
McCall Claims a Second-Place Finish for Fat Head Racing

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 7, 2010) - Debuting the No.23 Denver Marine, 3V Performance, Fat Head Racing and Bearden Oil Late Model Stock Car for this first time this season, Matt McCall finished second in Saturday's Farm Bureau 150 at Motor Mile Speedway. The reigning 2009 UARA champion showed the competition what he was made of and exceeded expectations with his second-place finish after challenging Motor Mile regular Philip Morris.

In his first practice at the .416 mile oval, McCall laid down a lap time good enough to place him fourth among 25-car field.  McCall knew with a few minor adjustments to his Marlow Chassis, he would be able to improve his times and qualify at the front of the pack for the150-lap event.

McCall laid down a lap time of 16.02, which secured the third starting position following closely behind Motor Mile regulars Philip Morris and Tommy Lemons, Jr.  Hoping to use the inside second row starting position to his advantage, McCall was confident that he would be able to maneuver to a solid finish.

After the green flag dropped, McCall was shuffled back to fourth place while Lemons and Kelly Kingery fought for second and third.  McCall waited patiently behind the battling duo and seized the perfect opportunity to swiftly pass both Kingery and Lemons on lap 35. The move put him in second place behind Philip Morris.

On lap 57, the field saw the only caution of the night, and McCall was able to close the gap between himself and Morris.  The field went back to green, and lapped traffic spread out the field leaving Morris with plenty of opportunities to pull away from the pack. McCall was left with the tough challenge of defending his second-place position. The caution to bring the pack back together and McCall stayed in second place for the remainder of the event. He was able to take home a solid top-five finish for his Fat Head Racing team.

Although McCall goes to every race with his sights set on a win, he was pleased with his first outing in a Marlow Chassis and a second-place finish at Motor Mile Speedway.  McCall also knows that with his performance at Motor Mile Speedway Saturday, a victory for Fat Head Racing is definitely in the near future.

"I was a little free at the start of the race," explained McCall, "but the car was really good.  I know a couple of changes that we will make before coming back that should make us even better and more competitive during the next go-round.  I look forward to putting our team in victory lane."

McCall will look to claim that victory, or maybe even two, when he returns to Motor Mile Speedway with his Fat Head Racing team on June 26th for LMSC Twin-100s.
