Spraker Racing Fields Two Cars at Martinsville; Joins Forces with NASCAR Veteran Steve Park
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 2, 2010) - Spraker Racing will field two cars in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Series race at Martinsville Speedway this Sunday. Rookie Andrew Smith will pilot the No. 37 Smith Associates - Spraker Racing Enterprises Race Cars and Parts Chevrolet, in his quest for a championship and Rookie of the Year honors. Steve Park, who has competed in 39 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races, will make his debut with Spraker Racing in the No. 08 Spraker Racing Hot Rods and Parts Chevrolet in the UNOH Performance 200.
Spraker Racing Owner Jeff Spraker is thrilled to work with Park and anticipates the impact Park will have in the Spraker Racing driver development program and with developmet driver Andrew Smith.
"Steve and I raced Martinsville a bunch of times but never together," explained Spraker. "We are really looking forward to racing with a veteran driver like Steve. We think he will be a huge help to our development driver, Andrew Smith."
Park ran seven seasons in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS), competing for Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Richard Childress Racing. Throughout his NSCS career, Park had 2 wins at Watkins Glen in 2000 and Rockingham in 2001. He has varied experience at Martinsville Speedway, making 11 NSCS starts at the Virginia track, where his highest finish was 11th in 2000. He also has four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and 12 NASCAR Whelen Modified starts, where he score one top-five and four top-10 finishes.
NASCAR K&N rookie Andrew Smith has three NASCAR K&N starts this year and will debut at Martinsville Speedway this weekend. The 21-year-old is excited to have a veteran teammate in Steve Park. The 2009 Humpy's Hero's Champion will compete in the No. 37 Smith Associates - Spraker Racing Enterprises Race Cars and Parts Chevrolet on Sunday, June 6.
Racing festivities for the UNOH Performance 200 at Martinsville Speedway start with practice at 11:30 a.m. EDT and qualifying at 4:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 5. The UNOH Performance 200 will take place at 3 p.m. EDT on Sunday, June 6, with an on-track autograph session at 11 a.m. EDT. The racing action will be featured on SPEED Channel Thursday, June 10 at 6 p.m. EDT.
