Frank Kimmel Looks for Victory No. 10 at Toledo Speedway

MOORSVILLE, N.C. (May 19, 2010) - Frank Kimmel rolls into Toledo Speedway this weekend with high hopes of returning to victory lane in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care. As the most prolific ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards driver to circle the half-mile oval, it would not be a shock to anyone if Kimmel finds Victory Lane for the 10th time in his storied career at Toledo Speedway Sunday afternoon.

Kimmel, who will be making his 30th-consecutive start at Toledo Speedway, always looks forward to returning to the half-mile short-track. "Toledo has been such a good track for me over the years, and I like short track racing," said Kimmel. "It's a half-mile, the type of track I was born and raised running. Short track racing goes back to the driver a little more; if the car is off a little bit, you can drive it a little different and make it competitive. It's a really good race track. We are treated really well there, and they take good care of us. Toledo is a good place to come racing."

Frank Kimmel earned his first of 74 ARCA Racing Series career victories in 1994 at Toledo Speedway. He never looked back from there; winning nine times while earning 21 top-five finishes in his 29 career starts at the track.

After a three-week hiatus, the ARCA Racing Series will resume on-track activities for the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care with practice on Saturday, May 22 from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. EST and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands for Sunday's Menards 200 open at 10:30 a.m. with the green flag set to drop for 200 laps of racing action at 2:08 p.m. EST.

"Kimmel's Top 10"
In anticipation of his 10th Championship, Frank Kimmel gives a look at his "Top 10" before each ARCA Series race. Frank Kimmel and his Kimmel Racing team name all of their race cars. This week Kimmel takes a look at his "Top 10" favorite car names.

10. Barbara- This was the first car ever named. Before his brother Bill became his crew chief, Kimmel's car chief at the time wanted to name the car Barbara. This is what started the naming of his cars.

9. Don- This car was acquired in 2008 from Yates Racing. It was used at the dirt races in 2008, where Kimmel dominated both races. After the DuQuoin race, the team decided to name the car after ARCA public relations manager Don Radebaugh because he loves the dirt races. "The Don" also loves the dirt tracks. This is the car Matt Crafton will be running at Toledo Speedway this weekend.

8. Eva- The carr was named after Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria. Frank took "Eva" to his only superspeedway win at Talladega Superspeedway.

7. Bacon- This car was a Matt Kenseth car purchased from Roush Fenway Racing in 2006. Kimmel used it as his primary intermediate track car during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. At the time, The National Pork Board was Kimmel's sponsor, giving the car the name "Bacon."

6. Harry- This car was named after one of the main characters in the movie "Dumb and Dumber." When purchased the car was a Dodge, and the team converted it to a Ford Taurus. It was used on the intermediate tracks during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
5. Martin- This car was purchased from Roush Fenway Racing and named after NASCAR Great Mark Martin. It was used in 2007 and Kimmel brought it to Victory Lane in three out of its first five races.

4. Wendy- This car was a short track car built for the 2003 season and names after the motorsports director for Advanced Auto Parts at that time, Wendy Delano. "Wendy" produced several wins during her tenure in 2003-2005 and was used as a back-up car in 2006 and 2007. This car was last used in 2007 at Toledo after Kimmel wrecked his primary car.

3. Madonna- This car was built for the 2000 season and named after the famous singer, Madonna. While most ARCA cars are bought from Cup teams, this one was not. It was built to be Kimmel's primary short track and dirt car during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. In the 19 races that Kimmel drove this car, it produced finishes of first, second or third 15 times and had four DNF's. All four DNF's came while leading the race. This car was sold after the 2001 season because it was a Chevy and Kimmel was switching to Fords in 2002. Kimmel's office manager, Brian, still has the tail from this car hanging in his garage.

2. Daisy- This car was named after Kimmel's grandmother. It was a car identical to "Mable" and was used as a short track car during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Kimmel won all six races entered in this car until the fall 2003 Salem race when contact with Shelby Howard while battling for the lead sent Frank and "Daisy" spinning, ultimately destroying the car.

1. Mabel- This car is very personal to Kimmel because it is named after his and Bill's mother, Mabel Kimmel. It was the first Ford bought from Roush Fenway Racing, where it had been driven by Mark Martin, in 2001. "Mabel" pretty much dominated everywhere she went, winning almost half of the 24 races she was entered in and finishing in the top-10 in each of her races. This car led about 2000 laps and was the most dominating car that Kimmel has ever raced, until she was retired in 2003. Frank now has the car, rightfully named after his mother, in his garage at home.

Frank Kimmel Quotes
What will be your keys to success at Toledo Speedway?
"The first thing you have to do is finish. At these short tracks the first goal is to make it to the end in one piece. Qualifying well, having good track position as well as good pit strategy are all important at these short tracks. With any short track staying out of trouble is the major key. We need to keep the fenders on the car, don't tear it up, so at the end of the race we have something to race with."

Do you think having a teammate at Toledo this weekend will benefit you? "I think so; Matt and I have been to a lot of autograph sessions at Menards and have struck up a friendship. It is always good to have someone else that understands the race cars and what changes to make. They will take a different approach with their car then we do. Even though it is one of our cars they are going to handle it differently then we will. If they strike on something that makes the car better they will share with us, and we will try to get better with it too and vice versa. I think both of us will learn from it. I'm sure Matt will be looking out for me on the race track and I will do the same for him. To have a helper and teammate on the race track is a good thing too."
