Frank Kimmel II Has a Fast Start to 2010 Season
Sets Fast Time En-Route to a Second-Place Finish

MOORESVIILLE, N.C. (May 13, 2010)- The name Kimmel is synonymous with winning at Salem Speedway, and third generation driver, Frank Kimmel II, is no stranger to success at the historic oval. Looking to defend his Super Stock Championship in 2010, Kimmel got his season off to a fast start in the Lucas Oil Super Stock Division's first event of the season at the half-mile track.

After stormy weather cancelled April 24th's opening night race for the Lucas Oil Super Stock cars at Salem Speedway, Kimmel II was ready to get back to action. He wasted no time in getting his name on top of the leader board, setting fast time during qualifying. Kimmel II lapped the high banks in 18.829 seconds, fastest among the 12 cars entered in the Super Stock Division.

Setting fast-time did not mean Kimmel II would lead the field to green, as the top-six cars on speed were inverted. He took the green flag in his No.68 from the outside of row three, in sixth position. Kimmel had a fast car and methodically worked his way through the field, racing in the top-three for the majority of the race.

Several cautions slowed Kimmel II's progress throughout the race, as he struggled with the handling of his car on short green-flag runs. "We just couldn't get the car to handle on the restarts," commented Kimmel II. "The car was fast, but after every yellow flag, we lost the handling and I would fall back a little bit."

When the checkered flag flew, Kimmel II found himself in second place. The finish also put him in second place in the season standings.

"We had a fast car," said Kimmel II. "Setting fast time and finishing second is a great way to start the season. I have some new sponsors on board this season, Prodigy General Contractors, McKenzie Synthetic Inc. and Eddie Gilstrap Motors; I am glad we gave them a good showing. I also want to thank our returning sponsors, Jim French Builder, Newlons Grocery, Clarksville Schwinn and Fitness, Marshall Auto Parts, Dawn Durbin D.D.S.,Mike's Paint and Body, Mallory Ignition, Ford Racing and Lucas Oil. Hopefully next time we will get them in victory lane."

Kimmel will continue his pursuit of a Lucas Oil Super Stock Championship at Salem Speedway on Saturday, June 19.
