RCR's Tim George Jr Finishes 13th in Rattlesnake 150 ARCA Racing Series Race

Race/Date: Rattlesnake 150/April 16, 2010
Location: Texas Motor Speedway
Start Position: 8th
Finish Position: 13th
Points Position: 10th (dropped two positions)

Richard Childress Racing development driver Tim George Jr avoided trouble during the caution-filled Rattlesnake 150 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards' race at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night to finish 13th.

The finish places George 10th in the ARCA Racing Series driver point standings with 16 races remaining in the 20-race series.

The starting field for Friday's 100-lap, 150-mile race was set by 2009 car owner points after rain showers cancelled Thursday's Menards pole presented by Ansell qualifying session, placing George eighth on the starting grid.

Working with crew chief Gere Kennon and the RCR Development team crew, George escaped eight caution flags unscathed to post his second top-15 finish of the season. The New York, N.Y., native spent the opening portions of the race settling into a rhythm at the fast, 1.5-mile oval. He was running 16th on lap 39 when Kennon advised the 29-year-old driver to come down pit road for four fresh Hoosier tires during a caution period.

Restarting the race 15th, George continued to run in the top-20 despite numerous cautions for wrecks ahead of him and behind him on the race track. He pitted for the final time on lap 70, taking four fresh Hoosier tires, and worked his way into the 13th position in the closing portions of the race. The 100-lap race was extended by five laps to accommodate a green-flag finish after a lap 98 caution.

Steve Arpin earned his second-consecutive ARCA Racing Series victory, crossing the line 0.326 seconds ahead of Craig Goess. Grant Enfinger, Justin Marks and Robb Brent rounded out the top-five finishers.

The next ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards race is the ARCA 250 at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, April 23. Flag-to-flag coverage of the ARCA 250 will be televised live beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on SPEED. The race will also be broadcast via live streaming audio at arcaracing.com.

TIM GEORGE JR QUOTE:
"This finish is huge for me as I progress as a driver in the stock car ranks. Texas is a big, fast track and I entered the race weekend with the goal of learning as much as possible about mile-and-a-half racing. I knew that Texas would be one of the biggest challenges of the year for me and I feel like we succeeded as a team."
