Braun v. Calinoff: Weight-Gain, Weight-Loss Challenge Finale Scheduled for New Hampshire Motor Speedway
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 14, 2010)-- Colin Braun and Mike Calinoff announced Wednesday the final event for the weight-loss, weight-gain competition between the two NASCAR personalities.
On June 25, 2010, the two men will participate in their final weigh-in at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The loser of the competition must purchase pizza for the entire media center.
"We are excited to be a part of this great contest, and we are going to find out who the biggest loser or biggest gainer is going to be," said Fred Neergaard, Director of Communications for New Hampshire Motor Speedway. "The media will greatly benefit from this wonderful challenge."
Calinoff, spotter for NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver Matt Kenseth and Activ8 Communications CEO, began the competition a week ago at 233 pounds. His week one weight loss was five pounds, a 2.1 percent decrease. Calinoff hopes to continue working on his low-carb diet and drinking more water to continue to lose weight throughout this competition.
"New Hampshire is one of my favorite tracks," said Calinoff. "I love working with Jerry Gappens, the Executive VP and General Manager of NHMS, and Fred Neergaard. I am thrilled that we can end our contest there, and include the media into the equation. They should be really excited that Colin will be buying them lunch. I said it once, and I will say it again. Colin Braun is going down."
Braun, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, started the competition at 145 pounds. This week, he weighs in at 145 pounds, a zero percent increase. Braun hopes to gain weight in a healthy manner to increase his muscle weight and strength.
The 21-year-old driver recently tweeted a photo of his secret weapon in the competition.
The competition between the two men began on April 8, 2010, and they have until June 25 to healthily gain or lose the largest percentage of their body weight. Each week, the men will participate in a weigh-in, and both Braun and Calinoff will continue to call for fan support throughout the contest. Next week, the two men will encourage fans to submit recipes. The recipe contest will be announced in the upcoming days.
