Braun, Calinoff Weigh-in on Their Weigh-off
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 8, 2010)-- Colin Braun and Mike Calinoff announced a fierce competition on Wednesday. Both NASCAR personalities, looking to change their weight, decided to put a fun-spin on their challenge to become more healthy.
The competition, announced on the SIRIUS Speedway radio show with Dave Moody on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio 128, will match Braun and Calinoff in a two-month weight-loss, weight-gain battle.
Braun, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver of the No. 16 Con-way Freight Roush Fenway Ford, and Calinoff, Spotter for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Matt Kenseth and Activ8 Communications CEO, will battle to gain or lose the largest percentage of weight. Braun, weighing in at 145 pounds, hopes to gain more weight than Calinoff can lose. Calinoff, currently at 233 pounds, wants to lose 30 pounds by the end of the competition.
Braun hopes to gain the weight in a healthy fashion through a balanced eating regimen and gaining muscle. Calinoff plans to attack his weight-loss through healthy eating and exercise.
Braun admits that it will be a struggle to beat Calinoff in this competition but has the determination to take the victory. "I'd love to find a way to take the weight that Calinoff is losing, and put it on me," said the 21-year-old. "I'm excited for this competition, and I'm ready for Calinoff to bring it on."
Last December, Braun and Calinoff went head-to-head in a competition for the most Twitter followers. Braun won the contest, gaining more than 1,000 followers in the 10-day span. Calinoff, who gained 225 followers, lost and was forced to wear a Bee costume at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando, Fl. and live in the SIRIUS studios.
Calinoff, determined to win this contest, offered a challenge to the young driver. "Colin Braun is going down," said Calinoff. "I will not wear that bee costume again, I can tell you that."
Both Braun and Calinoff will call for fan support throughout the contest in various competitions such as recipe and exercise suggestions. A weekly weigh-in to track the men's progress will be posted on the Activ8 and ColinBraun.com websites.
The end-date event and consequence for the loser will be announced at a later time.
