Jimmy Phelps Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Advance: Volusia Speedway Park

WELCOME BACK - Baldwinsville, NY native Jimmy Phelps competed in the DIRTcar Nationals twice before, once in 2006, and again in 2008. Phelps earned a 4th-place best in his 2006 debut, and followed up with a 2nd place finish when he participated in 2008. The finishes put Phelps in the top-10 in points for the events both years.

2010 PLANS - Phelps, a dirt track veteran, was recently named to pilot the No. 98H sponsored by Wave Energy Drink in the Super DIRTcar Series for the newly-formed Heinke-Baldwin Racing. HBR, a joint effort between H&H Motorsports owner Al Heinke and Tommy Baldwin Racing owner Tommy Baldwin, will field a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour entry in 2010, as well as two Super DIRTcar entries.

NEW NAME, SAME MISSION - Phelps returns to the car he finished third in the standings with last season running for Heinke's H&H Motorsports. He picked up one win in the Super DIRTcar Series last year when he took the checkered flag at Cornwall Motor Speedway in Ontario, Canada. The entire No. 98H crew plans to return to the team as well, hoping to earn the championship which eluded them in 2009.

FORMAT - Competition for the Big-Blocks kicks off Wednesday, Feb. 10 at with a 30-lap feature headlining the program. The action continues with 30-lap main events on Thursday and Friday before a big 50-lapper closes out the event on Saturday, Feb. 13. An optional practice session will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
